How It All Started
Look, I'm not gonna feed you some romantic story about loving cars since I was five. Truth is, I was working at a dealership and got tired of watching good folks get ripped off with unnecessary repairs and overpriced service packages. Started Mythral Void in a single-bay garage with one lift and a dream - to actually be straight with customers.
The name? Yeah, it's a bit different. I'm a fantasy nerd and wanted something that sounded solid but mysterious. Mythral's that indestructible metal from the books, and void represents the unknown - kinda like what's under your hood when something's acting weird.
Growing Pains & Big Gains
Word spread faster than I expected. Turns out people actually appreciate honesty - who knew? Had to expand to four bays and brought on two more techs. Started getting into performance work 'cause customers kept asking if we could tune their rides after fixing 'em.
Invested heavily in diagnostic equipment that year. Those scan tools aren't cheap, but they've saved countless hours of guesswork. Can't stand shops that just throw parts at problems.
Leveling Up The Game
Got serious about the performance side. Brought in Marcus, who's forgotten more about forced induction than most folks'll ever know. Started building a reputation for turbo installs and custom tunes. We're talking proper dyno-proven results, not just slapping on parts and hoping for the best.
Also got into transmission rebuilds around this time. Sarah joined us - she's rebuilt more T56s and 4L60Es than anyone I know. Watching her work is honestly impressive.
Pandemic Pivot
2020 was rough for everyone, but we adapted. People weren't buying new cars, so they started investing in what they had. Business actually picked up. Moved to our current location on Industrial Way - bigger shop, more equipment, room to breathe.
Added a dedicated dyno room and expanded our diagnostic capabilities. Now we've got gear that can talk to pretty much anything on wheels, from classic OBD-I systems to the newest CAN-bus networks.
Where We're At Now
Thirteen years in and we've got an eight-person crew, all certified and actually good at what they do. We're not the biggest shop in Vancouver, but we've built something I'm proud of. Still doing oil changes for folks who've been with us since day one, and building 600+ HP monsters for the track crowd.
The core philosophy hasn't changed - be straight with people, do quality work, and don't charge for stuff that doesn't need doing. It's not complicated.
What Drives Us
Every car that rolls out of here should be better than when it came in, period. Whether it's a basic tune-up or a full engine build, we treat it like it's our own. 'Cause honestly, half our team are car nuts who mod their own rides on weekends anyway.
